Dear SCC colleagues,

We’ve had several volunteers so far to participate in our group quilt project to benefit SCC, but we wanted to bring this around again to make sure everyone who’s interested saw the opportunity.

The theme for this year’s SCC fundraising quilt is stars – friendship stars, sawtooth stars, Amish stars, carpenter stars – and just like last year, we’re asking quilters to contribute one to two quilt block(s) each, using any star pattern you like. ECLI's next webinar is coming up July 17th and this time we will be talking about salary negotiations! This can be a tough conversation to have. This ECLI webinar will explore strategies for negotiating salary and other employee benefits during the hiring process. Offering the perspectives of a library director as well as a library science professor, Melissa De Santis and Emily Vardell will discuss the value of negotiating salary and different negotiation strategies.

In Anne Arundel County, Maryland, between 2020 and 2023 an average of 140 residents annually visited a hospital due to a gun-related injury, which is a 23% increase compared to previous years. The county’s public library, in partnership with the health department, set out to increase protective measures against gun injury by developing a gun lock distribution program.
