Dear Folks,

My computer was recently infected with the following virus.  Now, you CANNOT get a virus simply from opening email, but you can get it if you open attachment.

The email comes from "[log in to unmask]" and has various subject lines, and says something like "All of the information is in the above file."

This virus may have been sent to you in the form of an email, including an attachments.

Do not open attachments without screening them if you do not know the person or know what is being sent.  Rarely will a company send a program through email.  Normally, they would send you a link to a homepage, which is much safer.  Don't let your email program automatically open executable files.  You can use Yahoo! to check a questionable file if you use their email program.   Also, never open an email with a questionable subject line.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me.

I have included a link to a program which can remove your virus if you have been infected.  This may have occured if you opened the attachment in question.  It's better to err on the side of caution in this kind of matter.  Again, you cannot get a virus from email itself, but from the attachments.
