Hey everyone,
SHACK-A-THON: If you missed out on the Shack-a-thon meetings before, here is your chance to get in on the action! We will be having two more meetings, tonight (Wednesday) at 7pm in the Scholars room of the Union, and then this Monday, Sep. 22, 7pm, in the Regents room of the Union. (A brief summary of Shack-a-thon is at the bottom of this email.)
That's tonight in the Scholars room, OR Monday in the Regents room. If you attended one of the last two meetings and you're already signed up and everything is going good, then you don't need to come to either of these meetings. BUT if you're interested in Shack-a-thon and you want to hear more, you need to get the forms, you're not in a group and want to be--we can help. Just come to one or the other of the meetings and we'll get you set up.
ALSO, PAINT CANS: if you're interested in participating in Game Day Paint Cans this Saturday morning before the UCLA game, we need to have a copy of your driver's license on file. You can either come to the meeting tonight with your license (or drop a copy of it off at the meeting, you wouldn't have to stay) OR drop a copy off in Box 225 by the UOSA offices in the Union, by Friday at 3pm, at the latest. Also, please send an email to [log in to unmask] saying how many will be there, so we will have a rough idea. We will be soliciting donations from cars at various Norman intersections; we will meet at 8:30 at Cleveland County Habitat for Humanity to get assignments; you should be done between noon and 1pm, so you can get to the game. Directions to Cleveland County Habitat: 1835 Industrial Blvd. Take Flood North past Robinson; the first street on your right will be Lexington, take a right onto it. Take an immediate left onto Industrial, and you should see Habitat clearly marke
d on the right side of the street.

Brief synopsis of Shack-a-thon: Thu-Fri, Sept. 25-26, student organizations and groups of volunteers will create a shantytown on the South Oval to raise awareness about poverty housing. Using materials people throw away, groups will build shacks which they will then spend the night in. Anyone can "vote" with donations to a jar in front of their favorite shack. Votes can also be negated by donating to another jar. When it's all over, on Fri. the 26th, we'll have an awards ceremony with winners for various categories (most money raised, most creative, etc.). All proceeds from Shack-a-thon will benefit OUr House, OU Habitat's project of building a house here on campus, with students. If your group wants to participate in the build, your group need to raise $500, but all the money you raise from Shack-a-thon goes toward that (including a $25 registration fee). We also have other fundraisers that can help you raise the money.
