Dear Art & Art History Students:
The Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art will open its 34,000 square foot new wing on Friday, January 21. This semester, there is an opportunity for students to gain museum experience (either through an internship or volunteering) as hosts for the Weitzenhoffer galleries of Impressionist art. After a brief training process, students would be stationed in the Weitzenhoffer galleries to provide visitors with information. This experience could be a wonderful thing to include on your resume!
If you would like to have internship credit for your experience, that requires 45 hours of work per credit hour received. So, for instance, a person signing up for a 3 hour internship would need to work in the museum approximately 10 hours per week.
We will have the following shifts Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, & Saturday:
10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
12 p.m. - 1 p.m.
1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
3 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Thursdays, the shifts will be same as above, plus the following:
5 p.m. - 7 p.m.
7 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Sundays, the shifts will be:
1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
3 p.m. - 5 p.m.
I hope you will join us at this exciting time in the museum's history by serving as a host in the Weitzenhoffer galleries this semester. Please call me at 325.3270 or email me at [log in to unmask]
