Greetings, fellow writers --
I thought you might be interested in the following:

ALFRED HITCHCOCK MYSTERY MAGAZINE and The Wolfe Pack, the official Nero Wolfe society, are sponsoring the Black Orchid Novella Award. First prize is $1,000 and publication in ALFRED HITCHCOCK MYSTERY MAGAZINE. Entries should be 15,000 to 20,000 words, previously unpublished, and "in the tradition of the Nero Wolfe series." Deadline for entries is May 31, 2007. For additional information, go to http://www.nerowolfe.org/htm/neroaward/black_orchid_award/BO_award_proc.htm

If you've never heard of Nero Wolfe, shame on you! If you think you can't write 15,000 words by the end of May, stop being a wimp and try it.

BEWARE ***BEWARE***BEWARE***BEWARE***BEWARE! Stay very far away from a publish-on-demand vanity publisher called PublishAmerica. One of their authors has won a court case against them. Other litigation is pending.

Fantasy author David Eddings managed to recently burn down his office. The Nevada-based author was testing old gasoline in the tank of his beloved sports car by dropping a lit piece of paper into the gasoline. Needless to say, the gas was still potent. In his own words, Eddings said his action was "Dumb." Shall we say that writers and fire should not mix?

Write on,
DC
