Elvira's suggestion to develop three full proposals: This is a fair and
practical suggestion and should be okay with us (the 'Budapest team'). However
we are currently very busy with several community media meetings and an academic
workshop on community broadcasting, all taking place here next week, and then
some follow-up activities. So we may not be able to work on such a proposal
before the end of May or beginning of June.

Despite our enthusiasm for bringing OURMedia to Budapest, we still think there
is a strong case for holding the next one in Africa, and we would regard our
proposal as a kind of "Plan B" and as an alternative option to the "Plan A" of
Ghana.

Alfonso's suggestion of scheduling Ghana for 2008 and Budapest for 2009: It is
an interesting idea and generally, it may make sense to plan ahead. However,
while we are sure about the feasibility of holding OURMedia in Budapest in 2008
and can guarantee that there is a critical mass here for a conference next year,
we cannot commit, at this stage, for 2009 or 2010. We could make a tentative
offer but would have to re-assess the situation later.

Regional conferences: Our proposal was indeed meant for a global OURMedia
conference. If there is a decision for Ghana, then yes, we might consider the
option of a regional conference, for example in connection with the smaller
events on specific community media issues which we are planning here. However we
share the concerns that were raised about regional conferences and we are not
sure yet if this is the way to go...
