NWP TO HOST CONGRESSIONAL FORUM
NWP will host a forum on Capitol Hill, January 24, to
educate
congressional staffers on what makes quality
professional development for
teachers.

TWO NEW COSPONSORS ON H.R. 3357
Legislators continue to commit support for NWPs
reauthorization
bills thanks to the strong relationships you have
built with legislative
offices. House bill H.R. 3357 now has 34 cosponsors
with the addition of
Rep. Albio Sires (D-NJ) and Rep. Joe Sestak (D-PA).
Thank you for all
of your hard work last year on this effort. We will

this years bills later this spring.

DONT MISS URBAN SITES NETWORK CONFERENCE IN DENVER
The Urban Sites Network invites you to Denver,
Colorado, April 25-26,
for its annual conference, Reading and Writing for
Understanding and
Social Change in the Urban Classroom. The conference
includes two days of
workshops, school visits, a writing marathon, and
more, including
keynote speaker Richard Sterling at the Saturday
plenary session. Workshop
proposal deadline: February 16. Registration
deadline: April 2.

Join the NWP ELL Network at the 2008 TESOL Convention
in New York City.
At a Preconvention Institute on April 1, writing

through digital storytelling, wikis, Google Docs,
podcasts, and blogs.

Spend June 1922 at Sunrise Springs Inn and Retreat in
Santa Fe, New
