Theater Group Critiques Cyberculture

What:	
The theater group, Los Cybrids: La Raza Techno-Crítica, will perform at the
University of San Francisco. They use performance, burla and high-tech art
to challenge their audience to think about the social, cultural, and
environmental consequences of information technologies. 

Who:	
Los Cybrids: La Raza Techno-Critica's are John Jota Leaños, digital artist
from a Mexican-Italian American family in Los Angeles, René García Mexican
born in California performance and digital artist, and Mónica Prabha Pilar,
New York/Colombian multi-disciplinary artist. Together produce community art
that explores themes of historical memory and amnesia, cultural identity and
high technology. 

When:   Thursday, May 1, 2003 at 7:30 PM.

This dynamic panel of social justice advocates will discuss the hurdles
faced in South Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Eastern Europe, and the
steps that social justice and human rights activists are taking to use the
Net.

Citizens' Communications On and Off the Net

What:       Conference:  Digital Democracy.
This event will address how citizen groups are creating community and
building democratic communications on and off the Net. Workshops will
present action proposals for change and include:

Foundation, USF Law School, Silicon Valley Debug, the San Francisco
Independent Media Center, Labortech, Virtual Activism, Internet Rights
Bulgaria, Communications Rights in the Information Society (CRIS), MediaAct
Korea, Virtual Identity, Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility,
the Democratic Media Centre of the National Lawyers Guild, Media Alliance
and Bright Path Video.
