Dear TC's--

At our last governing board meeting, we discussed
making changes to the OWP annual writing contest and
maybe focusing on an Oklahoma Centennial theme for
this year's competition. We are also considering
expanding the contest to include a journalism
category. If you would be willing to serve on a new
committee for the writing contest, please let us know
by responding to this e-mail. Information about
meeting date and time is below.

If you don't really want to serve on the committee but
have ideas for changing categories or divisions in the
contest, please just respond to this e-mail. Attached
is
a flyer of last year's contest so you can
look it over. Do you think we should include a
category for formula poems? Do you think we should
expand the length of the short story or personal
narrative category? Maybe we should change the
categories to genres--expository, narrative,
persuasive, descriptive, poetry? Is there a category
we should delete? Do you have suggestions about who
might be a good judge either for poetry or prose? We
will consider all your ideas as we meet. Do you have
ideas on how we could do a better job of publicizing
the contest?

The committee will meet for lunch Monday, July 23 at
Alfredo's, a Mexican restaurant on the west side of
I-35 by Kohl's at 11:30. Please RSVP by responding to
this e-mail.

Thanks for your interest in one of OWP's most
successful
continuity activities.

Janis
