Public Health Grand Rounds: Strengthening the Public Health System to Advance Genomics
April 29, 2008
12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. EST
Muin J. Khoury, MD, PhD, the Director of the National Office of Public Health Genomics at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will do a keynote presentation on how the public health system, as broadly defined by the 2003 IOM The Future of the Public's Health in the 21st Century report, might utilize the developed and emerging knowledge, research, tools and approaches of genomics for the improvement of the public's health. He will describe roles that might be played by each of the sectors of the public health system (academia, communities, employers/business/labor, governmental public health, health care delivery system, media). Following this keynote, six panelists will respond from their sector's perspective. The live and webcast audience will then provide questions and comments to be considered by Dr. Khoury and the panel. The entire event will be video recorded for subsequent access on the web.
