Background
UNDP-ACT in Cyprus aims at creating opportunities for both the Greek
Cypriot (GC) and Turkish Cypriot (TC) communities to work together on
concrete projects for the benefit of all people on the island, while at
the same time promoting tolerance and mutual understanding. Over the
next three years, the programme will work with Cypriot partners and the
international community to achieve the following outcome: strengthen the
capacities of Cypriots to actively participate in a process of
reconciliation, through 3 key focus areas:
1. Civil society strengthened to effectively support and contribute to
the peace process.
2. Opportunities for Cypriots to promote social and policy change on
issues of common concern enhanced.
3. Mechanisms to promote cooperation, common understanding and
reconciliation fostered and demonstrated.
The Cyprus Community Media (CCMC) is a new initiative being implemented
by UNDP- ACT and a consortium of Civil Society Organisations to
contribute to a more pluralistic, vibrant and diverse media landscape
through an integrated and networked community media initiative led by
Civil Society
CCMC aims to build the capacity of Cypriot CSOs and civil society actors
across a number of media areas, especially through joint actions across
Cypriot communities to ensure wider and better dissemination of issues
and concerns of CSOs among the wider population. Furthermore the
Community Media Centre aims to enhance relationships between the mass
media and civil society through the provision of community media
generated products contributing to social inclusion, multiculturalism
and diversity.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Technical Expert will be responsible for overseeing and implementing
all technical related aspects of the CCMC including but not limited to
the audio/video editing equipment, cameras, recording devices, computers
and software used in production. Responsibilities will also include
overseeing and or delivering all aspects of post production including
editing and sound design.
The technical expert will also be responsible for overseeing the design,
maintenance and updating of the CCMC website, including preparing files
for uploading
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assist with setting up of the CCMC technical facilities including
video and sound production and post production equipment and software.
2. Organise a training program for CCMC team on the correct use of all
technical facilities and equipment.
3. Develop a user manual/guide for the correct use of all technical
facilities and equipment both in the centre and on location.Keep and
regularly update an inventory of all CCMC equipment
4. Develop, manage and be responsible for a booking out and return
system for all CCMC equipment and facilities.
5. Oversee all aspects of sound and video post production.
6. Assist the CCMC Project Manager with developing a detailed volunteer
training program.
7. Be responsible for the maintenance and repair of all CCMC equipment
and facilities.
8. Be responsible for overseeing the design, maintenance and updating of
the CCMC website, including preparing files for uploading.
9. Attend and participate in all team meetings
10. Advise CCMC on equipment and software purchases
Competencies
Required Competencies

assignments in a timely manner. Effective organizational skills and
ability to allocate appropriate amount of time and resources for
completing work. Monitor and adjust plans and actions as necessary to
ensure efficiency.
Client Service: Good interpersonal skills with positive attitude and
focus. Ability to develop and maintain good client relations and ability
to work in a multicultural, multi ethnic environment with sensitivity
and respect for diversity.
Communication: Good communications, diplomacy and people skills. Ability
to write and articulate verbally in a clear and concise manner and
demonstrated ability to share information on important developments in
relation to the work of the office.
Display corporate commitment and direction: Work to promote the CCMC?s
vision, mission, values and strategic goals;
Technological awareness: Sound computer skills; proficiency in
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point) and other IT
sound and audio applications.
Required Skills and Experience
1. At least 2 years work experience in video and sound production
2. Good working knowledge of video and sound post production equipment
and software ( e.g Final Cut pro, Pro Tools or similar)
3. Experience in teaching or training, vocational and/or education based
experaince would be an advantage
4. Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills in English
Some knowledge of Turkish or Greek will be an advantage.
5. Working knowledge of social media networking and web site design and
construction is considered an advantage.
6. Experience of working in a multicultural environment considered an
advantage
7. Ability to travel across the island
