Dear Teacher Consultants,

Below is information regarding an Urban Sites Network conference. Our
writing project budgets money to support teacher consultants to attend
conferences such as this one.

Any teacher consultant can apply by submitting a proposal that addresses
the points below. In the past teacher consultants have attended Urban
Sites, English Language Learners, and Rural Sties network conferences in
addition to the NWP annual meeting and the spring conference to lobby in
Washington.

1. Why you want to attend this conference - your rationale for how this
is related to your work as an Oklahoma Writing Project ("OWP") Teacher
Consultant.

2. A statement of what you expect to give back to the OWP as a result
of conference attendance.

3. An explanation of how you have contributed in the past to the OWP

4. A list of other conferences you have attended that have been funded
by OWP; and how you have applied the knowledge in your teaching and
towards the advancement of the Oklahoma Writing Project.

5. A budget for this conference

Sincerely,
Priscilla Griffith

Dear Friends

The Urban Sites Network Conference is fast approaching. Our 2007
conference host site, the DC Area Writing Project is busy making final
plans for what promises to be one of our most exciting conferences yet.
Please plan to join us on April 20-21, 2007 in Washington, DC at the DC
Renaissance Hotel. We'll start the weekend with all sorts of fun and
informative events taking place across the city and end with Gloria
Ladson Billings providing our keynote address on Saturday and several
rounds of workshops that will focus on promising practices for improving
the teaching of writing in urban schools. Don't get left out. We want to
see you there. Below are some important deadlines you won't want to
overlook:

--Proposals are due: 1/19/07
--Hotel reservations must be made by: 3/21/07
--Conference registrations are due: 4/1/07
