Dear Teachers--

I've received many phone calls this week from teachers
whose writing contest entries are waiting on their
desks at school or are in their students' backpacks
waiting on parents' signatures.  With school being
cancelled all this week (and who knows about next week
after the alleged snow storm due this weekend), we've
decided to postpone the deadline for the 2007 writing
contest until January 29.

And by the way, if you "didn't have time" to prepare
an entry in the teachers' category, you don't have an
excuse now!  Quit playing Tetris or Mah Jong or
Solitaire on your computer; instead, polish one or two
of your own pieces to enter in the contest along with
your students' entries.  I'm hoping for the largest
number yet of teachers' entries.
