*Need for Instructional Designers from Higher Education to Participate in a
Research Study*

A doctoral student from Capella University in the School of Education is u
ndertaking a PhD study to learn about what is involved for instructional
designers when they design instruction for and work individually with a
higher education faculty member (subject specialist) who is learning how to
create a course for online delivery.   ****

** **

The purpose of the research study is to provide a general description of
what is involved for instructional designers when they design instruction
for and work individually with faculty members who are learning to create
an online course so that novice or experienced instructional designers can
inform or improve their practice for this type of instructional design
work.  ****

** **

Qualifications for participating in the study are as follows:****

**·         **Participant has a Master’s or PhD level of instructional design
or instructional design and technology education and 10 years of instructi
onal design experience in the field, regardless of the setting or context.**

**·         **Participant is currently employed in an institution of higher
education and has five or more years’ experience working with individual
faculty members (subject specialists) who are learning how to create an
online course.   ****

**·         **Participant would be willing to participate in a 45-60
minute, audio recorded, telephonic interview with the researcher.  During
the interview, the participant would describe in his or her own words what
the practice of instructional design involves when designing instruction
for and working individually with faculty members (subject specialists) who
are learning how to create a course for delivery in the online
environment.  ****

**·         **Participant must be willing to take part in follow-up
communications with the researcher through the exchange of emails or
telephone calls in order to ****

**a.       **Validate the researcher-prepared verbatim transcript of the
telephonic interview held with the participant by reading through the
transcript and making any changes on the transcript that the participant
believes should be made to the transcript as prepared (add, take out, or
make changes to any part of the participant’s dialogue within the
transcript).****

**b.      **Read and reflect upon the researcher’s prepared research report
that depicts the essence of this type of instructional design work.****

**·         **Participant would need to have access to a secure and private
telephone or Skype account for participating in the one-to-one telephonic
interview with the interviewer.****

** **

**·         **Participant would need to have access to a secure and quiet
location for the purposes of participating in the one-to-one telephonic
interview with the interviewer.  ****

**·         **Participant must be 18 years or older to participate in the
study.****
