Dear Habitat friends,

We regret to bring you this unfortunate news, but the officers of OU Habitat have come to the consensus that we must postpone the campus build due to lack of sufficient funds.  The total cost for the house will be around 30,000.  We needed to have half that, or 15,000, in order to safely begin the build; currently we have somewhat around 8,000.

Our plan is to continue raising funds and begin building in the fall.  If you have been volunteering for us this year and were looking forward to participating in the build, rest assured you will still be welcome to do so in the fall.  Our apologies do go especially to those who, because of graduation or other reasons, will no longer be in Norman in the fall.  We appreciate your help and wish the situation were otherwise.

Nevertheless, you can still be involved with OU Habitat this spring semester, because we will still be having our fundraising events. (We need money!)  We are still selling T-shirts and bowling tickets in the Union through this Thursday.  Thursday night, 9-11pm, is Habitat Glow Bowling Night at Sooner Bowl on 24th Ave--try to buy your tickets as soon as possible--Monday or Tuesday--and tell all your friends about it too!

Note: as you probably gathered from the subject line, there will be no general meeting this Thursday, since bowling is from 9-11 that evening.  Our next general meeting will be two weeks from this Thursday, on March 4, 7pm, OMU Traditions Rm.

Other fundraisers for this semester are a dorm-wide collection March 9, 10, and 11 (will discuss this and sign volunteers up at next meeting); and the golf tournament April 17.  Please please please continue to spread the word to your friends, family, coworkers, anyone that might be interested in participating.  The flier/registration form have been attached to a couple emails sent in the past, so I won't send them again, but if you want copies, reply to this email and we will send them to you.

Again, thank you for supporting OU Habitat, and our apologies for this unhappy turn of events.  We hope you'll continue to be involved throughout this semester, and join us this fall on the build.
