What: The Heart of the Matter: Genomics and Cardiovascular Disease, presentation by Les Biesecker, M.D., Genetic Disease Research Branch at the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI).
When: Friday, July 13, 2012, 8-9 a.m.
Where: 8600 Old Georgetown Road in Bethesda, Md. at Suburban Hospital's lower level auditorium.
What else: Parking will be validated and a buffet breakfast will be served prior to the presentation. 

Please join NHGRI for a "genomics and cardiovascular disease" lecture.
Dr. Biesecker will: 

1) Describe the wide variety of gene variants that predispose to CVD.
2) Show how clinicians can use current genetic testing to customize therapy and better. take care of patients and their families.
3) Give examples of specific types of CVD that warrant referral for genetic evaluation. 

The Genomics in Medicine Lecture Series is sponsored by NHGRI, in collaboration with Suburban Hospital and the Johns Hopkins University.
Advanced registration is not required; however, those requesting continuing medical education credits are asked to sign in. 

The lectures will be recorded and posted at a later date on GenomeTV, NHGRI's YouTube channel, at www.youtube.com/user/GenomeTV.
