Dear Jim

I am a very surprised to see this circulated on the Ourmedia lists.

AMARC has not yet opened the call for candidates
for its 2010 election to membership of its
International Board, but since this message uses
AMARC's logo and has the names of two US-based
members of the International Board as contacts,
it does give the misleading appearance of being an official notice.

It is unfortunately only in English, which is
unfair to potential candidates who prefer one of
the other official languages of AMARC (Spanish
and French). It also sets out critera, including
fluency in english, which are not AMARC criteria
for membership of the International Board and are
not consistent with our statutes.

As you are aware the International Board is in
the process of appointing an Elections Committee
which will be responsible for handling the call
for nominations and overseeing the elections
process. This committee will act independently of
the International Board. We have set a timetable
to appoint the committee by 30 August and for it
to be functioning by 24 September.

I request, therefore, and on behalf of AMARC, that this notice be withdrawn.

Thank you for your assistance.

Steve Buckley
President, AMARC
