Hi everyone.
PatMack here, President in waiting. I just received the first details for this falls New Sooner Orientation, an event SDBC will be helping out. This is the first contact most incoming freshmen will be having with any student groups on campus and it is important that we all work to make a positive impression for OU, UOSA, and of course our humble selves. There will be two different events which we have been called upon to help with and they are as follows.

--quote from Michele Johnson re: NEW SOONER ORIENTATION FRESHMEN MOVE-IN --
On Thursday and Friday, August 19 and 20, from 8a.m.-3p.m., at the Walker-Adams Mall, we would like for your organization to help at our New Sooner Freshmen Move-in. We realize that this is two weeks away, but we wanted to let you know about this opportunity so you will be able to make plans to have some of your members back to represent your organization. In order to participate in this event you must be registered to attend the Information Fair which will be held Sunday, August 22 from 3-4:30 p.m.

Each organization will receive a complimentary t-shirt for aiding with the freshman move-in. We are sorry, but you will not be able to hand out information about your organization or try to solicit. However, you will get to met new people and provide a friendly face with a helping hand.

Freshmen move-in will be conducted in rotating shifts so that everyone will be involved with each aspect of this process. The shifts include: Outside helping with luggage from the car to the door; Inside helping with luggage form the door to the dorm room; and Directing traffic and holding signs outside.
------

As those of you who have resided in the dorms in past years know, the freshman move in process is a huge undertaking. I encourage all of you to join me in volunteering.

But! More important to our cause is the New Sooner Orientation Information Fair, to be held on Sunday August 22nd from 3 to 4:30 pm. This is where I usually wander around with the freshman collecting everybody's free stuff, but this year I'll actually be soliciting recognition from the masses. The plan so far is to have hand outs regarding our organization and meetings along with some kind of frozen treat. We will need 2 probably 3 people present the whole time, so come recruit.

Before either of those plans come to fruition, I will need a volunteer to print out, fill in, and drop off the registration forms. Just a few written words and a trip to the Union is all I'm asking for, so please email me back promptly if you would like to volunteer for this.

In the mean time, keep on dancing.
Patrick Macklin
