Salut,
First and foremost, Tuesday finds our Swing, Rumba and Foxt-Trot (space permitting) lessons in the East Atrium of the Sarkey's Energy Center. Some of you have been there, but some of you were new last week, so a bit of direction is in order. If you enter from the main Jenkins St. doors and proceed down to the first floor (the sub-sub basement from street level), head down the hall from the Bedrock Cafe where all the tables and chairs are set out. It hasn't been tested extensively, but from many locations on the first 2 floors one can simply follow the music to find us.

Secondly, Valentines day is coming up and the club usually tries to make an outting of it. I was personally asked to make everyone aware of the Women's Outreach Centers hosted event:

The first Pink and Black Ball will be held on
Friday, February the 11th
8.00pm-12.00midnight
in the Molly Shi Boren Ballroom,
Oklahoma Memorial Union.
Proceeds from the Ball will benefit breast cancer research and education

The Pink and Black Ball is an opportunity for the OU community to come together and enjoy an evening of music and dancing while at the same time support a good cause. The evening will begin with light jazz music ( pianist and saxophone) as our guest arrive and then we'll have a DJ who play a variety of dance music.
Tickets are currently on sale at the Student Union lobby 10am-2pm Monday to Friday and at Women's Outreach Center OMU 247 and the prices are as follows:
$7.00 individual
$12.00 a couple
$65.00 a table (sits 10 people)

But I have also been asked to offer the caveat that this is not a traditional ballroom atmosphere. While I'm certain there will be some good music and more good dancing to be had, the over all event will be structured more like a Prom than a Ball.

That being said, we are still investigating other events that may provide a more traditional venue for Ballroom dancing. If you are aware of any, don't hesitate to share.

Finally, later in the month we are looking to make a return to the Czech Hall (visitable at http://www.czechhall.com/ ) for Polka dancing. They are hosting a valentines polka dance on Saturday the 12th, but opinions are mixed.

Stay tuned for updates,
Patrick
