Greetings from dance land,

Our top story tonight: when do we get to dance?! Our first session begins on August 30th. That is to say, a week from Tuesday, at 6:30 pm, in the Associates room of the Union, the club will swing into action. We will begin from the beginning in Swing, Rumba and Foxtrot under the bountiful tutelage of Henry Neeman. We will also be welcoming back Candy Boone for the second semester of regular intermediate lessons.

Let's break all the records again this year. I'll start by extending a warm welcome to the 63 people who joined this list at the New Sooner Orientation club fair, by far the most interest we've gathered to date.

Once again, cost for club membership is collected on a per-session basis. Each session lasts five weeks and membership allows attendence for both beginning and intermediate lessons. All for the low low price of $15 for students and $20 for non. Anyone may attend their first lesson risk free and decide to pay later. Tell your friends, bring your friends, bring us strangers. More details, directions and suggestions regarding the first session will be passed along next week. Watch your inbox this weekend for a reminder of our first lesson.

In other dancing news, The Talk of the Town Orchestra, a 16 piece big-band that has delighted dancers before, will be playing at Dance Makers Studio this Friday. The studio is located at 6205 N.W. Expressway · Oklahoma City, OK 73132 and the dancing will last from 9-11pm. The cover is $10 per person. Persons interested in carpooling or (like me) simply bumming a ride can meet at the Jukebox in the Union (1st floor, by the foodcourt) at 8pm.

Also, local latin dance destination Kongo's has changed to an 18 to enter, 21 to drink club. Watch for a club outing some time after our constitution has been amended to comply with the University's new alcohol policy.

Finally, let me just say, now is the perfect time to become involved. If your or anyone you know is interested in knowing more about the club or helping us do what we do (bring the dancing to you), please contact me or email [log in to unmask] Also, don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have.

That's all for this evening. I'm Patrick Macklin, Action Dance News.
