I've always wanted to use that word . . . On to business

The good news is we're back in the Union tomorrow. The bad gnus have overgrazed their pasture and are stampeding through campus. Wait . . . Bad joke. The bad news is that we're in the Governors room, which isn't much bigger than the atrium we had last week but, as someone pointed out, it's more convenient and more air conditioned (not that that should make much difference this week). We also need a location for next week, the 19th, Nov 2nd and 30th. Still wide open to suggestions for such.

The pertinent poop this week is:
2nd week of Waltz, Salsa/Merrengue, Nightclub Two-Step
Tuesday October 12th, Governor's room, Union Building (3rd floor just north of the Ballroom) 6:30 pm
Charge (if you haven't already paid) is still $15 students/$20 non
And we're back on carpet this weeke, so soft soled shoes would be a good idea. Oh yeah, and flipflops are a bad idea; this is for your own safety. As Henry would say (who will be returning this week, by the way), it brings pain, which brings lawsuits.

Also, I dropped the ball on Oktoberfest this year. It's the first Saturday in October every year, if anyone is taking notes. The upshot is we have a choice of a different czech polka dance every saturday through November. Going this week would be a little hasty, next week I'm hoping to be dancing in the Homecoming parade, if they ever get their act together, and the 30th we have a choice of events for Halloween (someone remind me about this at the meeting) but I'm thinking the 6th of November would be a good time for it. If no one has any complaint for this date, go ahead and mark your calenders. We'll likely be carpooling, but stay tuned to this channel for more information.

The next Meet me at the Mammoth dance is a week from Thursday, the 21st. I have flyers to hand out for anyone interested in learning more about the Sam Noble Museum programs and I'll list the details thoroughly with next week's email.

Homecoming, which I already mentioned, is on the 23rd, a Saturday before the football game against Kansas. We got a ridiculous amount of good publicity just walking with a banner, a stereo and 2 couples dancing the whole way. I would like to have many more people involved this year, so if you have time to kill before the game on Saturday feel free to email me. I'll also have a sign up sheet at the meeting this Tuesday if that's more convenient to you.

And finally, please be thinking about our winter ball. This even is a lot of work and even more fun and we need your help for both parts. Anyone who knows they have the time and volition for this sort of thing, please go ahead and let me know as we will be swamped in no time.

Thanks and hope to see you soon.
Presidential Patrick
