Hi Gang,

First of all, thanks to everyone who came and especially everyone who helped with the Moonlit Masquerade this year. With over 100 people in attendence, I declare it was a success.

For the remaining weeks of the semester we will continue with our regularly scheduled lessons. Tonight is the third of five lessons in Tango, ChaCha and Hustle. Real Basic Bullets:

Who: Sooner Ballroom Dance Club and You.
What: Lesson 3 in Tango ChaCha and Hustle
When: 6:30pm Tonight, Tuesday April 18
Where: Scholars room of the Union, 3rd floor
Why: To HAVE FUN! Plus you might actually learn something.

Anyhow, come prepared to dance on capret with soft soled shoes or heavy socks. Candi Boone will be teaching an intermediate dance of interest at 8pm and the newly forged SBDC dance formation will rehearse afterwards.

This Friday there will be open dancing at 8pm in the Sarkeys Energy Center West Atrium. That's on the bottom floor of the big red brick bulding on the corner of Jenkins and Boyd, near the parking lot on the Trout Ave. side.

Next week we're back in the Scholars room for our fourth lesson.

Officer Elections will be coming up very soon (probably next week) with the swearing in of elected officers the week after that. If you are interested in helping with the club or even taking over (ha! you can have my dance club when you pry it from my cold dead hands!) you should send an email to [log in to unmask] and let us know the job you had in mind. The positions available are (with responsibilities listed):

President - this email business right here, booking rooms and keeping track of everything else and picking up slack where others need help.
Vice President - Coordinating the bianual balls in terms of food, decorations, band, instructor etc.
Secretary - General correspondence, getting a hold of people when needed most, accepting random tasks
Treasurer - Making weekly bank deposits, paying bills, reimbursing officers who've spent (approved) funds out of pocket.
Publicity Chair - Distributing flyers, running ads, manning and delegating information booths.
Historian - Taking pictures and scrap booking them.
Special events coordinator - booking the weekly meeting to Sarkeys. Helping run events when needed.

You need to be a student to run for Pres, Vp, Sec or Treas. but anyone can help out with the remaining jobs. Also if there's some specific task you have in mind that isn't mentioned above (e.g. archiving our music, DJ'ing or MC'in dances, creating fancy animations or photo albums for the website) then feel free to bring it up and we can create a position for you. Becaus it's not wether you win or lose that's important, it's who has the most padded resume.

That's it for this week. Thanks for listening,
Patrick Macklin
SBDC President.
