Howdy gang,

Another slight delay in this weeks email; apologies. As the header line says, tonight is the last lesson in Foxtrot, Rumba and Swing.

The skinny:
Who: Sooner Ballroom Dance Club and You!
What: Foxtrot, Rumba, Swing lesson Four
When: Tuesday Sept. 20th 6:30 pm
Where: Scholars room, Student Union Building 3rd floor
Why: Meet new people, learn new things, have fun! Why else?

The Scholars Room is across the hall from where we had our first three meetings. It is still between the Ballroom and the Parking garage on the 3rd floor, north end. This room is also carpeted, so soft shoes or heavy socks really save your feet and ankles.

Free and Open dancing in Sarkey's again this Friday. Dancing starts at 8 and lasts till 10. There is absolutely no cost for this event. You can bring your own music if you want to dance to something we don't have. Come on out and enjoy yourselves.

Oktoberfest:
Yeah, It's Czech Fest (but Oktoberfest sounds more historic). Saturday, October 1st. Dancing begins at 5:30 and lasts until midnight (a coronation will happen at some point for Czech Fest Royalty...heh...) Cost is $7. No group discounts or student discounts or such since it's such a big event. It will be crowded, most likely. If anyone is crazy enough, there are also parades and random activities throughout the day in Yukon. It's tons of fun! There will be two different bands playing. They'll probably switch out around 8:30 or so.

Carpooling:
We will meet by the jukebox in the Union foodcourt between 4:30 and 5:00. Not too worried about being late as the event lasts for 6 and 1/2 hours. Don't worry about getting stranded either, there will be groups leaving at different times throghout the night for returning to Norman (and probably Oklahoma City too). If you're interested in carpooling a group at a later time, email me back and I can pass along your timeframe to the rest of the list.

A note about the Czech Hall: they have a very old suspended dance floor. It is covered with some kind of loose grain. This makes it very slick. Bring a pair of tennis shoes, as dance shoes most often cause people to fall down.

Next week begins our Session on Waltz, Salsa/Merengue, and Nightclub TwoStep. If you've been holding off attending because you missed a lesson and felt behind, come out next week and we'll be starting aaaaalllll over again. No really, it's fun. We'll be asking volunteers to take and hang some flyers across campus.

Thanks a bunch to everyone. Our first session has been a great success. I hope all of you can stay with us this semester and dance as much as you like.
