This is an abnormal emailing, but much of this came up kind of last minute like. As if you don't have enough to do and think about this week/end, I submit for your approval the following events. Lots of info on each one, so if you're booked solid this weekend, pretty safe just to delete this message.

Thurday 2/10:
Mardis Gras Dance Party at Dancemakers studio in Oklahoma City. This is a professional ballroom studio run by the folks who teach the credit Ballroom class here at OU (DANC 4990). They always throw a good dance. There will be a group lesson, similar to the style that we teach in club, from 7-8pm and open dancing from 8-10pm. Their formula for lessons usually involves a technical point and one or more intermediate steps for one or more dances; they assume some familiarity with the dances. If you would like or need a ride, meet promptly at 6pm by the Jukebox in the Union food court for carpooling; also please come then if you have room in your car that you could stand being filled by a club member.

The cost is free, I believe. However, I haven't confirmed this. I will try to find out tomorrow sometime for certain, but the price won't run more than $10 for an OU student (I hope).

Directions are . . . well a map can be found here: http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?ed=phTK3Op_0TpVuSZHjlJoQry.018G2ZysbkrR&csz=Oklahoma+City%2C+OK%2C73132-5127&country=us&cat=&trf=0

Be sure to copy that in its entirety into your browser. Or visit http://dancemakers.net/

Consequently, this weeks officer meeting has been canceled. This weeks concerns can be discussed on the way or at the dance party. Barring that, just email me.

Friday 2/11:
The first Pink and Black Ball will be held on
Friday, February the 11th
8.00pm-12.00midnight
in the Molly Shi Boren Ballroom,
Oklahoma Memorial Union.
Proceeds from the Ball will benefit breast cancer research and education

The Pink and Black Ball is an opportunity for the OU community to come together and enjoy an evening of music and dancing while at the same time support a good cause. The evening will begin with light jazz music ( pianist and saxophone) as our guest arrive and then we'll have a DJ who play a variety of dance music.
Tickets are currently on sale at the Student Union lobby 10am-2pm Monday to Friday and at Women's Outreach Center OMU 247 and the prices are as follows:
$7.00 individual
$12.00 a couple
$65.00 a table (sits 10 people)

I've been personally assured that the DJ for this gig will have a selection of ballroom dance music and will be taking requests. While not the ideal ballroom atmosphere, it's for a good cause and is bound to be fun anyways. Also, I'm assuming that tickets can be purchased at the door, but it wouldn't hurt to buy early (and often; for the cause, you know).

Saturday 2/12:
Valentines Day Polka Dancing at the Czech Hall in Yukon, West of oklahoma city. The Bohemian Knights will be playing a variety of music (yes, they know more than just polka) from 8pm - 11:30pm. Admission is $5 per person. This dance is always lots of fun and a total workout; skip your weekend trip to the gym and come dance instead.

As always, email me with any questions.
