I've done my best not to get involved with the
arguments between supporters of the Undercurrent and the SSEC, and really, I've
done my best not to get involved with the SSEC at all. There was no need
to make an effort to avoid the Undercurrent, they made it perfectly clear to me
that my assistance was not needed or wanted.
However, I would like to take a moment to express
my desire to see the current squabbles resolved. The only reason I am on
this mail list is that many members of the SSEC are involved with other
movements/organizations, and often take the time to let list subscribers know
what else is going on in the world. I enjoy that.
That's really the same reason I read the
Undercurrent, or used to read the Undercurrent.
All that said, I am not really in the know about
either organization. Most of the information I came across is second or
third hand. But from what I've heard, it seems that majority of the
problems seem to stem from simple creative differences. I too disagree
with the direction those responsible for the Undercurrent's production seem to
be taking, however, that does not make them wrong. In my opinion (however
uninformed), the simple solution would be for those unhappy to take a more
active role in the production of the Undercurrent. This is assuming those
already involved with the Undercurrent would welcome additional input.
From what I've been told (and from my own experiences), this is not the
case.
So what's the solution? Hell if I know, it just seems that both
parties' problems stem from a lack of communication and tolerance. I would
encourage those associated the Undercurrent to be more receptive to input from
others. Likewise, I would encourage those disappointed in the
Undercurrent's current status to take a more active approach to improving
it. If you dislike the articles you read, write better ones. If you
believe they do not accurately or fully represent you, then do something about
it.
And yes, I am attempting to follow my own advice. This email is part
of that. Hopefully, I'll have some articles prepared for submission to the
Undercurrent soon.
Good luck to those involved.
Angry as usual,
