Friends,

The 180/MDE Council, is planning now to hold the 3rd 180/MDE Campus Democracy
Covention. For those that missed the previous 180/MDE or DTI conferences
this one should be exciting and very crucial to the developnment of the
campus progressive movements.

Why would you want to attend such a conference? Well, there will be lots of
discussion on the state of the campus organizing movements, and how they can
be shaped to effectively address the problem of the corporate-dominated
university power structure in order to make positive change at the campus
level (and beyond) a reality. There will be lots of skill-sharing and
networking with campus organizers and activists from across the US who are
dealing with corporate dominance on the local levels. And, of course, there
will be time to work on build the organization - 180/MDE!

We're planning on the date of August 1-4, 2002. We'd like to confer with
chapters and other folks in the 180/MDE network as to the location of the
event. We've been leaning toward the Midwest, since that's where the
majority of the chapters, but are open to other possibilities. Of course,
having an airport of considerable size is a major plus, so as to reduce
travel costs for people coming from across the US and Canada.

There will be a 180/MDE "Communication Circle" conference Call soon, probably
Saturday, Feb. 9th to discuss this with reps from chapters and other
interested people. Keep that date and time open, more info will follow soon.
Between then and now, the council and the clearinghouse staff will be
getting in touch individually with chapter contacts to discuss the conference
location and logistics.

Peace,
Andy Burns
