While I am opposed to the position taken in the March 14 issue of The Chronicle Review, "Legacy Admissions are Defensible...," I am in agreement that of equal importance to the Michigan affirmative action cases is the issue of what these authors call "the sorry state of government support for elementary and secondary education."
