Here's an article I found this morning. Basically this guy says that Apple ran the Intel chips with HyperThreading (a technology that makes one processor act like two) turned off: http://www.haxial.com/spls-soapbox/apple-powermac-G5/ I also found this link, which I think even some Mac die-hards will like: http://www.ssc.ucla.edu/ssc/consult/schang/mac.wmv (please note: there are a few 'colorful metaphors' in this clip, so be careful where you play it, etc.) -----Original Message----- From: Todd Walker [mailto:[log in to unmask]] Sent: Tuesday, June 24, 2003 10:56 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: G5 speed tests rigged? Having read the articles, it seems obvious to me that Apple "gamed" the G5 speed tests that are posted on their web page <http://www.apple.com/g5> . Quite simply, they crippled the Intel-based computers they were testing against slightly in order to slow them down a bit - it's admitted in the fine print apparently if you read the pdfs describing the benchmark tests. Is it then, the "world's fastest personal computer?" . As always, it depends on what kind of task you're going to do with it....
