Candidates should have teaching interests and an active research agenda in the telecommunications and information industries, management, economics, law/policy, or "Information Society" issues at the macro level. The department values qualitative, quantitative, legal, and historical approaches to scholarly questions in telecommunications. Our definition of telecommunications encompasses all forms of electronic media, including radio and television broadcasting, cable, satellite, Internet and telephone sectors. A Ph.D. is preferred but ABD candidates will be considered. In addition to an active research agenda, the department places strong emphasis on teaching and service; candidates should be committed to contributing to both the undergraduate and graduate programs.
