Laura,
Now that I've played around a bit with this free timeline creation
tool, I want to say a huge thank you! This is wonderful!!! I would
have paid $$$$$ for these features!!!! (Well, I can't afford that
many $'s.) The interface is not elegant but it is functional and does
not require any scripting, and the resulting timelines will definitely
be helpful to students in my online course. Since my history of
science course is organized chronologically, I'll make a section of
the timeline for each week that will help them see the forest and not
just the trees. (And by the way, it works perfectly on Mac OS X.)
PEACE
Kerry

thanks to the folks at

here's a nice piece of free software available for both Windows and
Mac which allows you to create interactive Flash-based TIMELINES, with
all kinds of nice features. best of all, you don't need to know or use
Flash itself to create the timelines. here's a blurb from the website,
0000,0000,EEEEhttp://timeline.cer.jhu.edu
This tool allows individuals without multimedia development skills to
create an interactive timeline for teaching or presentation purposes
that can be published on the World Wide Web or displayed directly from
a computer. The interface can display up to six simultaneous timelines
to compare and contrast various "events" with descriptive text and
digital images.
You will find sample timelines posted here to get a sense of how the
software works. There is not a lot of online help built into the
program, but there is 0000,0000,EEEEdetailed
documentation online.
