THE INFORMATION ENVIRONMENT

FORMAL PAPER CHECKLIST

This checklist must be completed and submitted with the Formal Paper.

FORMAT 

__The paper has a distinctive title.
__There are page numbers on each page.
__The text of the paper is double-spaced.
__The paper is in 12-point font.
__The pages have 1-inch margins, top, bottom, and sides.
__The reference list or bibliography is single-spaced with double-spacing between entries.

WRITING
__The paper is not written in the first person.
__The paper does not include any misspelled words.
__There are no grammatical errors in the paper.
__There are no punctuation errors in the paper.
__Inclusive language is used throughout the paper.
__The text of the paper (not counting the title page or the reference list or bibliography pages) is at least 10 full pages long.

SOURCES AND
DOCUMENTATION

__At least 10 sources (not counting the textbook, not counting standard reference sources like dictionaries, and not counting individual chapters of a book) were used in preparing the paper.
__Both print and electronic sources were used.
__Recent sources were used to write the paper.
__References are given either in the text or in endnotes or footnotes to the sources of information used, not just when there are quotations from the source.
__There are at least 10 citations to sources in the paper.
__All words taken directly from a source (quoted from the source) are indicated by use of quotation marks.
__Proper citation is given for the use of the ideas of others.
__Citations include the page number(s) of the source used if the source is a print source.
__If parenthetical references in the text are used to document sources, the reference list style is used for the list of sources (See Turabian chapters 10 and 11).
__If endnotes or footnotes are used to document sources, bibliography style is used for the list of sources (see Turabian chapters 8, 9, and 11).

This paper checklist must be submitted with the Formal Paper via the Digital Drop Box by 5:00 p.m., March 26, 2004. The Formal Paper will not be accepted if not accompanied by this completed checklist.
