In responding to the Open Forums, think in terms of expanding beyond what is in the textbook or what has been suggested in the response of the initial group. This is your opportunity to broaden the discussion to possibilities that have not yet been mentioned--to be creative or provide a perspective that has not been suggested or to hypothesize about what might be. For example, in the response in the open forum on topic 3, a possible response to the impact of the invention of printing on the transmission of information that was not explored was the effect of having access to printed materials on the previous means of transmission--a resulting decrease in the oral transmission, possibly leading to a decreased memory ability (this did happen) since human memory was no longer relied on.
