hi everybody, just a reminder that we'll be meeting at 11
on Wednesday IN THE COMPUTER LAB - that's the lab where we have met before, in
the SLIS section of Bizzell Library (old building). I think the room is
118A.
since the College does not do any kind of Outlook
training (apparently that is something they leave to IT), we won't have access
to the fullblown Outlook program on those computers, but I will walk people
through the features of the oumail.ou.edu web-based system (good so that you can
promote effective email habits with your students) and also the features of the
exchange.ou.edu web-based system. I'll also try to cover the basics of the OU
email system: dotted name and alias, POP and Exchange accounts, personal and
organizational email accounts, virus protection services, etc.
PLEASE BRING QUESTIONS! I know that email is
something everybody uses but it is sometimes surprisingly complicated. I can
talk about email at enormous length, but obviously it would be much better to
cover the questions and topics that are of real interest to you
all.
we also do not have anything in particular on the
agenda for next week - would people maybe like to do 'show and tell' for the
classes they are teaching now and classes they are building for fall? anyway,
think about what you would like to do for next week, June 30, since we will be
meeting that week but then off for the following week again (yes, here comes the
4th of July already! wow!)
