Yes we use the Dell 132T autoloader over here. It is LTO2 and we run Veritas and the appropriate agents to back up 15 servers. It has been pretty good for us so far. Here are the specs copied from Dell's site: Storage Capacity 4.8TB Uncompressed 9.6TB Compressed Storage Capacity 3.3TB Uncompressed 6.6TB Compressed Backup Rate 216GB/hr Uncompressed 432GB/hr Compressed -----Original Message----- From: Jerrod Howard [mailto:[log in to unmask]] Sent: Thursday, July 08, 2004 8:40 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: Tape Drives Sorry, yes it's 300G uncompressed and the transfer rates are 36MB/sec uncompressed, 72MB/sec compressed -----Original Message----- From: Jerrod Howard [mailto:[log in to unmask]] Sent: Thursday, July 08, 2004 8:39 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: Tape Drives yea, got it from techdepot on a quote for $5199. I don't know if that price is still good, but I would suspect so. Jerry Bowers ( [log in to unmask] ) is our contact guy there. CDW was about $200 more. http://www.techdepot.com/pro/product.asp?productid=1805481 http://www.quantum.com/am/products/dlt/sdlt600/default.htm I saw that TechDepot had an autoloader on sale for around $9000, but it wouldn't hold the high capactiy tapes and it was terribly slow on transfer rates, but if both carraiges were full, it would do (I think) 3.2TB total compressed. I picked the SDLT 600 for speed more than anything (72MB/sec so it says heh) and is fibre channel ready. That and the SDLT's are super easy to use. Dell makes some really nice ones they use across the street, but I don't know how *nix friendly they are.
