I'm betting that it will be well after august before Microsoft releases XP SP2. There's just still too many things it breaks when a user upgrades, things like programs, shares, etc. The firewall and such will be great I think for home users, but the corporate networks will be paying for alot of it as it goes it. I was in two different labs to day remaking their shortcuts to the imaging share and 3 of the 6 computers I worked on didn't authenticate to OMRF, they were only jacked into the network and if they needed OMRF access, would VPN in. Who knows what headaches those machine will cause. But I'm pretty sure it's gonna be awhile. And the prudent thing to do is wait a few more months even after release so that those first release bugs are at least partially mitigated. ;) -----Original Message----- From: Todd Walker [mailto:[log in to unmask]] Sent: Friday, July 23, 2004 1:21 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Fwd: Windows XP Service Pack 2: Install With Care.. When your IT chief sends out a warning that talks about "mayhem" when you install a Service Pack that is about to be pushed to your whole network, that's when I get nervous. Hopefully it's just because this is the RC2, right? Someone make me feel better here....
