Assistant Professor, Electronic Media Production

School of Journalism and Mass Communication

The School of Journalism and Mass Communication seeks applicants with strong
corporate video or production company experience to fill a tenure-track
Assistant Professor position in Electronic Media Production starting fall
semester 2005.

Faculty in the school advise students, teach a variety of undergraduate and
graduate courses and are expected to regularly engage in scholarly research
and/or creative activity. We're looking for an enthusiastic professional
who can advise the school's student run production company. Since this is
also an opportunity to revitalize and refocus our production program,
applicants should be able to teach hands-on camera, lighting, editing,
directing, sound, project management and production skills and to work
collaboratively with other faculty on convergence projects.

Candidates should have at least a master's level degree in production,
journalism or related field at the time of the appointment and a minimum of
eight years of video production experience. Applicants with bachelor's
level degrees and significant teaching and professional experience will also
be considered.

Kent's School of Journalism and Mass Communication has about 1400
undergraduates and pre-journalism majors, making it the largest school in
the College of Communication and Information. The school is accredited by
the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications.
In 2007 the school will relocate to a state of the art facility that will
feature digital TV and radio studios, a convergence laboratory and a
combined student media newsroom.

Applicants should provide specific examples of production work such as:
video news releases, studio discussion and live programs, remotes, and
training, marketing or interactive videos. Production examples should be
submitted on DVD or on CD with the format specified (QuickTime, Divx, etc.).
A letter of application, resume/vitae, three references, a client list if
