Dear Bob and Cervantine friends:
Your mention of Russell (and I think we are thinking of P.E. Russell, and
in this regard to Anthony Close) causes me to inform you of an article I
did:  "Cervantes and the 'Funny Book' Syndrome."  I published this in  A
Celebration of
Brooklyn Hispanism.  Eds:  Filer, Marva, Domenich Finello and William
Scherzer.  Newark, Del.:  Juan de la Cuesta, 2004, pp. 13-44.
In it I hope to put an end to the notion of the Quijote as a "funny book."
If you read the article, I think you will agree.
Best to you and all Cervantine colleagues, Joseph V. Ricapito
P.S. If your library does not have it, please let me know and I can send
you a copy of the article.
