His belief in teachers and their knowledge, commitment, and creativity never wavered. We are all the beneficiaries of his vision and his tireless work on behalf of the writing project network. Jim was immensely proud of the writing project and all that we have been able to accomplish together. The Bay Area Writing Project and NWP are planning a public memorial service to be held in Berkeley in the near future, and we will keep you posted about the plans. We will also find ways to honor Jim at our Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh later this month and to create opportunities for all of us to share our memories, both online and face-to-face. We have posted a brief memorial page on the NWP website, to which we will add photos and additional materials to pay tribute to Jim over the coming weeks: http://www.writingproject.org/cs/nwpp/print/nwp_docs/401 Together we will honor his life and his legacy. Regards, Richard Sterling
