The "Don Quixote, East and West" issue of the
Review of Japanese Culture and Society is now
available. The issue contains visual images,
critical essays, and fictional works that address Don
Quixote's passage across cultures. The volume
features eleven rare (color) images of Don Quixote
as a samurai from the little-known "A Don Quixote
Picture Book" by the renowned Japanese artist
Serizawa Keisuke, as well as two essays on
Serizawa's book. In addition to original essays by
Western scholars, the volume also includes
English translations of fictional and critical writings by
Japanese and Korean figures, both contemporary and historical.

Erotics, and National Identity in Gustave Doré's Don
