Subject: [okcswingdanceclub] June Calendar and Salsa news.

The Calendar for June has been updated on the website. Also the
calendar in the group also has been updated. In the future more
information will be added to the group calendar as pertaining to
each particular event. See the Salsa 6-2-07 party and the Salsa 6-6-
07 8 pm class for examples of more information.

The update for the Salsa 8pm class is the following.

It's time to start a new Rueda! As many of you already know, we only
start a new Rueda circle about once every 6 months. Here's why:

There is a definite starting point that you can't miss out on - or
you'll be "lost". The first 5 weeks are critical to understanding
how the group learns to cooperate & move as a unit. Therefore, we
will be closing the class after the 5th week so that we can start to
progress past the basics with our Rueda circle. (...otherwise we
would have to start at "square one" every week!)

If you plan on trying the class, you should know that Rueda requires
a small comittment to attend classes as often as posible. If you
miss one class per month, you'll catch up to your class w/out much
problem.
If you miss two classes per month you might be able to catch up...
If you miss three or more classes in a month, it will be difficult
to get caught up without private sessions.
If you get a few weeks behind, you may have to drop the class &
start again on the next session for beginners.

For those of you who have taken a few Rueda classes & had to drop
out for whatever reason, here's your chance to get going again! If
you already know the basics (dame, enchulfla, enchufla doble, adios,
adios con hermana, siete, and sombrero) you can join the class after
the 5th week if approved by one of the instructors.

All ages are welcome (ages 10 & up). If we get several young
dancers, we will create 2 circles because the young ones will learn
faster...

If you know any guys that can be dragged, coaxed, or otherwise
brought to Rueda class, we never seen to have enough to dance with
all the ladies that show up... Please pass the word! Also, I will
make special arrangements for any male Rueda dancers who would like
to volunteer their time to help out w/the new beginner class. You
can learn alot by helping someone who knows less than you do...

We learn something new almost every week so that we keep adding to
the Rueda... You won't get a chance to be bored!

Many of the Rueda turns can also be danced Cuban style with one
partner, so you'll also be increasing your moves for social dancing
one-on-one.

We often dance Rueda at "Mangos" & various parties, etc. so you will
get plenty of opportunities to dance Rueda outside of classes.
