Colleagues,
Submissions
for the MAC faculty and student paper competition will be here soon and I need
your help! Last year we had an
incredible amount of well written research papers for both faculty and
students. I anticipate receiving
submissions that use a variety of approaches and research methods, including,
but not limited to, critical, empirical, ethnographic, historical, legal and
semiotic, in the area of race and ethnicity.
Last
year we needed at least twice as many judges as we had to make it easier on
those of you who volunteered. Some
of you were fantastic and went out of your way to help out in reviewing for
both faculty as well as student research. Some of you reviewed 4 or five papers
and even went as far as answering my call when some reviewers were unable to
carry their load and I needed some emergency judges.
I
hope we can recruit twice as many judges so that each one of you only reviews 3
papers. If you are submitting a paper to our division, you obviously cannot review
faculty papers, but we definitely appreciate your help with student research. I
am asking you to please help us out by referring at least one more person to
review this year.
