Assistant Professor of 19th-21st Century Spanish Literature and Culture Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures Illinois State University The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at Illinois State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in 19th-21st Century Spanish Literature and Culture at the rank of Assistant Professor. PhD in hand at time of appointment preferred. All areas of specialization are welcome, but the department is particularly interested in candidates whose work engages film, cultural studies, transatlantic theory, or gender theory. S/he will have a solid scholarly agenda and documented teaching experience. Normal teaching load will be five courses per year (2/3 or 3/2), primarily undergraduate and graduate courses in Peninsular Literature, Culture and advanced Spanish Language. The successful candidate must be authorized to work legally in the United States by August 16, 2009, the start date of the position.
