When I organized the Southern California Cervantes Symposium in 2001
Jim Castañeda not only read a wonderful paper during the day's formal
proceedings, but he also accompanied several of us on an informal
pilgrimage to Dodger Stadium later that evening.

He emailed me about three weeks ago to tell me again how much he had
enjoyed that night of frigid April baseball. His email brought back
many fond memories for me.

I was shocked and saddened to hear about his passing. I send my
condolences to all who knew him.

Best,
Bruce
