Estimados colegas,

Favor de responder directamente a las estimadas colegas Ann Mackenzie < [log in to unmask]> o Ceri Byrne <[log in to unmask]> del Bulletin of Spanish Studies.

A. Robert Lauer

Dear Bob, and Beverly at Rice University,

I was indeed saddened to hear of James Castaneda's passing,
though if it was as sudden as seems to be the case, he is to be
counted blessed to have been spared a long illness. We shall miss
his contributions to this journal.

I am writing to  Beverly Konzem at Rice University  for advice, and
copying you, Bob, into this email, since you may wish to inform
colleagues on your list of  the soon forthcoming volume in James's
memory.

As it happens, the Bulletin of Spanish Studies will soon publish a
Special Double Issue devoted to Agustin Moreto and co-edited by
Maria Luisa Lobato, Universidad de Burgos, and myself.

As you know, James was one of the the early researchers into the
drama of Moreto, and his published work in this field remains
invaluable.

The co-editors of "De Moretiana Fortuna. Estudios sobre el teatro
de Agustin Moreto", BSS 2008 ( University of Glasgow, UK;
publishers Routledge,  Taylor and Francis Group) propose to
dedicate this volume to James's memory. We are about to go to
press, however, so time is very, very short.

Would you happen to know, or could assist us to find out, James's
year of birth? Also would there be anyway of receiving quickly, that
is electronically, a photograph of James that could be included in
the volume? We can ofcourse, dispense with the photograph if one
is not able to be made available in time. But it would be most
helpful to have, for inclusion, his date/ i.e. year, of birth.

I have tried to access the web addresses kindly provided, but my
computer is very elderly and proved incapable of  completing the
job.

If you can supply a photograph by electronic means can you do so
directly to my colleague Ceri Byrne at the Bulletin of Spanish
Studies. Her email is, as given above, [log in to unmask]

Hoping you can assist us,

with all best wishes, and in great haste,

Ann
