Here is a link for world renown Media Education Foundation new documentary on the negative results of our emphasis on weight/ fataphobia.  I assure you these same issues are of grave problems in communities of color.  It’s NOT just a problem for white women though, at least the trailer, only shows white men and women.  This link may be of  interest to faculty and students of media, health, psychology, education, sociology, humanities and other disciplines.
