Subject: Call for Papers for the 3rd Annual Conference at the University of
 Chicago

Dear Professor Lauer,

I write to you on behalf of the graduate students of the University of
Chicago. I am attaching the call for papers for the 3rd graduate student
conference entitled Reflections in the Margins: Representations of the
Marginalized in Iberian and Latin American Literatures, which will occur at the
Franke Institute for the Humanities at the University of Chicago October 16-17,
2009.  We have invited Professor E. Michael Gerli, Commonwealth Professor of
Spanish at the University of Virginia as our keynote speaker.  We welcome
abstracts and panel proposals from graduate students specializing in all
subfields within Hispanic Literatures.

Interdisciplinary proposals are also encouraged. If you could forward the call for
papers to your graduate students and to your Siglo de Oro list-serv, that would
be greatly appreciated. The deadline for submissions is June 30, 2009.  Should
you or your graduate students have any questions, they can E-mail us at
[log in to unmask]  More information about the 2009 conference
and past University of Chicago conferences can also be found on our website:

Thank you for your attention and best wishes,

James Nemiroff
