2010 Spring Celebration of Writing

for Students and Teachers

Wednesday, April 7, 2010

University Center Great Hall, Oklahoma City University

Natasha Trethewey, 2007 Pulitzer Prize winning poet, will be the guest speaker at the Oklahoma Writing Project annual Spring Celebration of Writing Conference April 7 at Oklahoma City University. Her book Native Guard is a collection of poems about the African-American troop of soldiers who fought in the Civil War for the North, but were stationed in the South.  Her appearance is sponsored by the Oklahoma City University Fine Arts Institute and the Center for Interpersonal Studies through Film and Literature.

Each teacher may bring 5 students, grades 6-12.  (Sorry, space limits us to no more than 5.)  Winners of the 2010 OWP Writing Contest will be honored in the morning general session.
