Minutes of PWSA Meeting 4-21-10
PWSA met in Gaylord Hall room 3150 at 4:50 p.m. on 4-21-10
12 students were in attendance.
Professor Chester, PWSA Sponsor and Mel Odom were in attendance as well
Thank you to everyone who came to the meeting.  Great discussion and ideas!

The following officers were elected:

PWSA Statement of Purpose was agreed upon:
To create a writing community that fosters creativity, professionalism, and  individual and group growth.

Treasurer's Report given by Prof. Chester
$500 donated by alum and earmarked for PWSA library
$90 donated to PWSA from sorority sisters for discretionary fund

Membership
Membership is open to any OU student.  Students outside of PW must have a PW sponsor. 
Some activities will be available to only PW students, however (anthology submissions, for example)    
Members will be asked to pay nominal dues--to be discussed at next meeting
Alumni members are invited to join PWSA and to be members of the list servs and Facebook groups. 

Discussion:  List Serv
Frustration was voiced over people who REPLY ALL on the list serv
Jocelyn will send out an etiquette reminder for our two ListServs--PWSA and Scribite.  
Courtney Murphy volunteered to contact Kent Graham and ask about possibly setting up automatic replies to list servs being routed to a PWSA e-mail address--although nobody volunteered to monitor said e-mail account.  Optionally, perhaps reply all will not be an option on the list serv. 

Facebook Group
Helen Grant is working toward starting/beefing up the PWSA Facebook group
Helen Grant will post next week's meeting time on the PWSA Facebook Wall

Great Ideas for PWSA!!!
Implement  a once-a-semester anthology
PWSA members send in stories for an anthology to be published on BLARB.com (sp.?)
PWSA members will get a writing credit to put on their resume
PWSA members will get an editing credit to put on their resume
Book is published for free
Can be sold on the PWSA website
Will help get PWSA members published
Mel has agreed to shepherd this idea--Thanks, Mel!  
Next semester, we'll  edit the stories (by committee) and put them in the anthology. 

Blogs/Websites
Writers, Agents, etc. are available by blogging to talk with us
Helen Grant will set up a blog site and DJ Russell will set up a website for PWSA over the summer and send out the info. on how to use it.  Plan is to have these sites ready to roll by fall.
