Martha and Frances Award
Honoree: Terry Phelps

Terry has been an outstanding Teacher Consultant for the Oklahoma Writing Project since its inception in 1978. He has also been a leader, advocate and lobbyist promoting OWP. Terry Phelps deserves this award for his faithfulness and loyalty to OWP.
Terry was in the first OWP summer institute and has continued to serve OWP faithfully in many different capacities. He is an excellent teacher and continues to inspire us to improve our writing and our teaching of writing.
Terry Phelps, a member of the pioneer class of OWP, inspires new TC's and veterans through his involvement and devotion to Writing Project ideals. He is always available to mentor and
encourage all of us who desire to better the lives of students through the enhanced and sound practices of The National Writing Project.
For thirty years, Terry has loyally supported OWP summer sessions, reunions, workshops, lobbying efforts and enriched individual members lives.
His warm and caring personality coupled with academic expertise makes him an excellent candidate for the first Martha and Frances Award.
