Julie and Michael asked that this note be sent to update you about recent events regarding their baby son, Brian. They would love to talk to each of you individually, but they
know that is not possible.
Julie entered the hospital at 1:35 AM on Monday, August 9, after labor began at home. As the hospital staff was preparing her for delivery, they realized the situation had become an emergency and got her into delivery as quickly as possible. Brian was born
at 1:59 AM. The doctor reported that the placenta had separated, and the baby suffered a loss of about 20 percent of his blood, resulting in a loss of oxygen to his brain for up to 20 minutes.
Brian was transported to Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City, where a cold cap procedure could be applied to reduce swelling. Neurological testing was done which showed little to no brain activity.
Brian lived another day, much longer than the doctors anticipated. Julie and Michael are especially thankful to God for the time with Brian Monday evening. During that six hour period Brian's brother and three of his sisters were able to hold him and express
their love for him. They "told him everything he needs to know about all of our family." Julie was able to travel to Children's Hospital to see Brian and caress him. Julie's father, Ron, stayed with Michael and Brian through the night until Tuesday morning.
During an EKG on Tuesday morning Brian passed away in his father's arms.
The family is truly thankful fot the brief time we have had with Brian and the sweet knowledge that he is now beholding the face of His Saviour. We are grateful to all of you for your prayers and expressions of love and support. The realization, through
God's word, of the realiaty of the resurrection sustains us in hope. The mercy and grace of God continues to bless our family through this sorrow and great loss.
